Website of the Cracow Salad Bar "Chimera"

We created a new, very unusual website for the Salad Bar "Chimera" located a few steps from the Main Square in Krakow.

The main assumptions of the project centred around an individual creation based on graphics by Kaja Wierzbowska-Wrońska, which was at the same time supposed to be light and "tasty" in its reception. Just like the dishes that have been served from the 10-metre high counter for many years, the website was to catch the eye and encourage people to visit the restaurant.

In addition to the interesting graphical challenges, the project also allowed us to showcase several new functionalities of our ICEberg CMS 5 system, which made it possible, among other things, to create an easy-to-use e-mail system for booking tables combined with an interactive floor plan of the restaurant.

The Salad Bar homepage had to be minimalist and as easy to use as possible. Following the graphic guidelines, we therefore created a very unusual graphic menu on the first screen, which leads immediately to all, main sections of the site.

ICEberg CMS 5 allowed us to configure the 'text with photo' components so that short text blocks could appear on the website, decorated with graphics by Mrs Kaja Wierzbowska-Wronska (artist, wife of the restaurant's owner) and photographs of the food and interiors of 'Chimera'.

It was not only the descriptive content that was adapted to the project. For the presentation of the bar's very specific offer, a component was created to replicate the ordering instructions used at "Chimera" for years.

We solved the problem of menu card presentation in an equally interesting way. Knowing how often new seasonal specials appear on the Salad Bar menu, we proposed the simplest solution: attaching menu cards in the form of pdf files, which are prepared for printing for the restaurant's visitors anyway.

Combined with an interactive creation tailored to the graphic style of the new site, the links to versionable documents will make it easier for the site's administrators to carry out the tedious and hitherto difficult update.

For ease of contact with customers, the website could not lack a table booking form. Thanks to the many and varied options our contact forms are equipped with, we were able to create a form linked to the clickable Bar plan. Not only does it allow "Chimera" customers to easily select their favourite table and send in a reservation request for a specific day and time, but it also blocks requests that do not meet conditions such as the number of guests or a reservation at a date and time not desired by the staff.

It is also worth mentioning that the form is easy to translate into any number of languages and allows English-speaking customers to book from the start.

Already at the design stage, we knew that one of the requirements was easy handling of translations and the possibility of creating a multilingual site. ICEberg CMS version 5 is a system that greatly simplifies the input of translations thanks to, among other things, the built-in connection to Google Translate. Content can therefore be transferred to the translator and then manually entered into the 'Language versions' tab. It can also be translated almost instantly, automatically into any language, replacing the long waiting time for a professional translation, especially for short, simple text blocks.

The website could also not lack many standard functionalities such as maps, buttons, lists of photos from the gallery or sliders. Thanks to the very flexible possibilities of adjusting the functionalities in ICEberg CMS 5 to each creation, we made sure that even these parts of the website looked interesting.

As with any company website, the restaurant website could not lack an article module. This module can perform both blog functions and facilitate the publication of short information, news and announcements.

In addition, a Social Media Feed module appeared on the website, automatically presenting content from social media sites. A daily updated list of posts from Facebook and Instagram can provide an additional decoration and facilitate the insertion of the latest information on the website.
