Thanks to the development of technology and the Internet, more and more companies are moving their operations to the online world. According to the 'Digital 2021' report compiled by We Are Social and Hootsuite, in Poland, out of almost 38 million people, almost 32 million users go online almost every day, which is 84.5% of the country's population. However, promoting a business online is different from classic marketing activities. One important term we come across in this respect is SEO. This term from search engine optimisation means search engine optimisation. Optimising a website for search engine results is only one element of website positioning. SEO is based on constant learning about and adapting a website to the mechanisms governing search engines, adapting the source code of websites to current search engine algorithms in order to improve the quality of a given website in the results list. Optimisation can be divided into activities related to modifying a website's content (in terms of phrases for which a campaign is to be conducted), changes to the website's source code in order to improve the functioning of the website (technical optimisation) and changes to the website's source code in order to place key phrases in the right places (optimisation for specific keywords) - e.g. optimisation of URLs, headings. The term SEO in Poland is often used interchangeably with the term positioning - SEO is often understood as a synonym for positioning. In reality, they are different terms.
